Alternate Snow Bus Routes

Alternate snow bus routes are routes that our buses will temporarily service in lieu of the normally scheduled routes due to adverse weather conditions which create particular challenges for bus travel and/or bus turn around.  Most of the Valley’s school districts have similar alternate routes. Whenever Naches Schools “Alternate Snow Routes” are in effect it will be referenced by the media and our Transportation Hotline.  This indicates that our buses will not travel upon certain roads. Parent/Guardians will be responsible to transport their student(s) to the determined alternate pick-up or drop-off spot for each affected road, before school and maybe after school if the safety of the children and/or the bus is still in question.

While these roads will not be specifically listed each time on the above mentioned resources, all families who live on one of the roads listed below should now know that the reference is for their particular road by virtue of this memo as well as the various District publications we have included this info in.  The hotline will be updated as soon as a determination can be made that the alternate stops are necessary.  If the hotline has not been changed by 1:00 P.M, alternate routes will still be in effect for the P.M. routes.  Please have someone available to meet your children at the alternate drop off point for P/U.

The A.M. pick times for each of these roads will be approximately the time the bus would normally pick up at the first stop on these respective roads.  The bus will stay at the alternative stops long enough to assure that the remainder of their bus route will remain on schedule.  Please remember that with adverse road conditions, buses generally run progressively slower as the route continues.

The initial roads we have determined to be affected by the Alternate Snow Route days are:

  • Valley View Rd, including Ditchbank & Sunnyslope:  Alternate bus-stop is 4350 Old Naches Hwy.
  • Murray RdAlternate bus-stop is 4160 Old Naches Hwy.

  • Rolling Hills DrAlternate bus-stop is Old Naches Hwy and Rolling Hills Dr.
