IMPORTANT UPDATE to the 2010-2011 Student Accident and Health Insurance Program brochure.
As a service to parents, your School District makes available to you a number of student accident and health insurance options for voluntary purchase. Enrollment brochures were distributed at the beginning of the school year. Please be advised that in order to comply with Washington's law, we have extended the time period for accidental loss or injury to 365 days of the date of a covered accident for up to one year from the accident without regard to when the initial expense is incurred subject to the other terms and conditions of the policy.
We also know that many of you are confused by recent federal HEALTH CARE REFORM legislation and what impact it may have on your ability to obtain coverage for your child. We remind you that the insurance options available to you through your School District include a Student Health Care plan which covers sickness as well as injuries. Please note if you enroll your child on this plan prior to December 1, 2010 there is a $50 deductible for each covered accident and sickness. If you enroll after December 1, under most circumstances, the deductible per sickness will increase to $500. Please read your procure carefully for more details on this valuable coverage.
Additional copies of the plan brochure and enrollment forms may still be available at your school office or you may contact the plan administrator - Myers-Stevens & Toohey - directly at (800) 827-4695.
